Arts and Academics

Arts Integration

We believe incorporating our student's strengths and passions into their academics will help them retain and understand academic information better. We also believe that this makes learning more fun and enjoyable. Academic teachers, at Creswell, routinely integrate the arts into their curriculum in meaningful and authentic ways. 

The flip side

On the flip side, the arts teachers also know that integrating the academic subjects into their classes is equally as important. This strengthens students' understanding and helps them to make new connections. We believe this further deepens their understanding of the content. Academic and arts teachers share their quarterly units so integration can occur and Project-Based Learning can be planned. We also have a fantastic librarian that assists with this process, as well as providing a maker space, robotics access, and encouraging our continued growth as a STEAM school. 

Encore and Honors 

We are one of the few MNPS middle schools to offer honors courses in all academic subjects and grade levels. These courses offer students that are advanced a chance to excel in Math, Science, Social Students, and English Language Arts.

We also offer ENCORE for students that are accepted into the gifted and talented program through the MNPS district. This is available for students in grades 5th-8th.
